For my individual project “FACADE” (this is my baby for now)…..

It was certainly hard for me to organise pre-production as well as production as a script writer, director and producer. The production has been done for this semster and will be continue next semester on March 2006 for fighting scenes and some other scenes which I just decided to shoot some more footage.

Directing is hard and stressful as much as I love and enjoy doing it. It is incredibly tough, risky and complicated especially when I have to do the rehearsal and film at the same day with the limited time schedule. Thanks to my crew and actors who understood and believed in my direction. Without them, I could not achieve anything through this production. I truly thank them all.

Firstly, it is important to have good relationships with actors and make sure they trust you with your direction. Also give some space to actors to express and act the way they understand of the characters. Directing is not about getting the picture the way it should be on the storyboard or script. I believe things could change even last minute on the set. I always give some rooms for ‘plan B’ which means that if there is a great idea comes up, I will go for it as long as I am sure what I am doing. Directing can be taking a risk and I actually find this fun.

During my pre-production, I and actors had couple of meetings as well as rehearsals to let them understand the characters. If I didn’t have time to meet them, I call them and do the rehearsals through the phone to make sure they understand the characters. Having a good crew is to develop good relationships as we had great time together not only for work but as friends. It is hard to be friends with your crew and work at the same time but both can be achievable as I have.

I must say I have the best crew as we all had great time together. I am pleased to know them all. All I can say is that I am very lucky to have such a wonderful crew.

I would like to come back to this and write some more about my crew INDIVIDUALLY. For now, I need to take care of my fun fun time with my crew as we are planning to go out tonight to drink. I guess I will drink heaps of redbull tonight….
