My personal goal through this course for my individual project is to create a film that is diverse and unique. I am keen to create a film that is of an art house and experimental genre but I aspire to blend these with thriller, animations and martial art genre with lots of illusions to captivate the audiences’ eyes and grab their whole attentions. I would like to achieve from this project as a director/scriptwriter is to make a unique and true art house experimental film through my own perception. Further more, I would want my film to be educational rather than just being an exciting and weird film. Also, a film that audience could relate to their own emotionals as well as experience from the main character Bedour’s point of view in very different forms.
Most importantly, I want to make a clear message of what I am trying to relate through this film to the viewer as it is crucial for me to make sure that the audience can engage and understand what the film is all about and be able to learn or realise that facing a reality is important and every person have their own problems/conflictions. The viewers should understand that we all have to learn to accept our past and know that we can’t change it no matter how much we try. Just because something bad has happened, or because we have done something wrong, does not make us bad. Even if a person is not having a great life, ‘facing the reality’ is important. But there are some who are unable to put the past behind and starts to believe what they want to believe and creates some illusions for themselves, which happens to some people who have no self control like the main character, Bedour who simply refuses to face anything in her life. Having a bad memories or bad days doesn’t stop your life from reality and to be aware of what you are doing in life and try to make things better for yourself rather than going backwards. We must stand up for what we think and believe, make our position clear, and not let others walk over us literally no matter what. I want my audience to understand the idea of ‘Facing the reality’ and be responsible for who you are; otherwise you will be putting yourself in a worst situation.
Furthermore, it is important to me that the whole process of this film making will be remembered as a great experience for everyone. As I always believe that work could be real fun and helping each other is very important in terms of to be able to maintain good relationships with others in a long term.

The film is about facing your reality and how the protagonist Bedour, who is in denial in her life, resulting a simulated world that fits her own ideals, a ‘facade’.
Synopsis
‘Façade’ is an art house and thriller genre short film dealing with the subject of overcoming/conquering your fears in order to face and resolve a problem, in simpler terms, ‘facing your reality’.
Through the main character Bedour’s tinted glasses which she perceives reality like an everlasting computer game, the simulated world where she can deny the boredom and realism. In her eyes, she views herself as her favourite cartoon character, surrounding environment and its figures appear as a collection of charming and happy (weird) pixilated graphics. A realm she is more then content to dwell and she will desperately fight for herself to be in. The simulated world symbolizes Bedour’s own dream world which shows her extreme anxiety and desire in life.
Who is the audience?
The audience could be anyone from all over the country especially mid aged woman, as there isn’t any particular nation or racism in this film. The audience should be over 15 years old to understand the narrative, in terms of emotion and confusion of mid aged woman Bedour, who is desperate and neglected to face the reality and her responsibilities in life. Also, the film is slightly violent which should be avoided from under aged.
How is it going to be made?
There would be a lot of technical skill needed in terms of Roto-scoping as the film would be mainly weird vision from Bedour’s point of view.
What is it about?
It is about a mid-aged woman who completely neglected to face the reality as she daydreams and believes in her own simulated vision she desires to be in which resulting her revenging people who ignored and mistreated her from childhood memories. Bedour struggles with her good and bad side of herself as well as between her simulated world and reality til she finds her real self.
What is your connection to the project?
The film ‘Façade’ deals with lots of emotion, neglect and denial which I believe every human can relate to in some point especially when life gets hash and tiring. My connection of this project is to be able to visualise and understand a person’s individuality how they view and deal with their own life because I believe every person have their own simulated world where they believe and desire to be in. It is my main connection to the project in a sense that to bring my own neglect and dreams in a very different ways. As I am interested in people’s confusion in their own ways and how they view in life. I want to make a film which the viewers can actually feel and experience the main character’s point of view ad emotions, a film that viewers can be connected to the main character. There would be a lot of animations and actions going on which would attract viewer’s eyes and to be able to give the clear point of the film to the viewers which they can actually think about it in a long term.
I believe in life, it is important to be aware and appreciate who you are no matter what. I would like to able to bring the entire emotions of mid aged woman who is completely neglected to face the reality as she believes her life isn’t great to her and try to daydream in her life.
How does it work
‘Façade’ is about facing your reality and how the protagonist Bedour, who is in denial of her world which resulting in her creation of a simulated world, a world that fits her ideals, a ‘facade’. However, in the course of one night, the facade begins to reveal holes into the real world, a problem which Bedour desperately seeks to solve, even at the cost of others lives.
Without a doubt, the film ‘Façade’ is violence and weird yet it incorporates other factors such as strength, courage, desire and loves on the characters which draws the viewers in and entice them in to the character’s world. It revolves around a slightly reclusive, slightly eccentric last mid aged woman Bedour who is suffering with her self-depression and desperation. She is controlled by her immorality and battles within herself. However, viewers won’t see Bedour from the screen since Bedour is the one who is controlling the camera; what she sees is what viewers will see. In the end, there is a shocking and twisted part to the viewers by revealing who Bedour is, where she finally finds herself through the mirror that she is no longer the person she desires but she was a mid-aged woman who refused to face the reality since she was young.
The film is very grim and fast forwards by showing the realism and simulated world, yet simultaneously covers the full gamut of instructive themes and techniques in terms of understanding of despair and misery. You can see the animations which Bedour sees in her own simulated world in cartoon. This film would go forward practically fast and with some martial art with Asian weapons going on. Therefore, the viewer won’t have any opportunity to look else where but the film; it will guide the viewer rapidly as it allows them to experience how Bedour is viewing her world.
Why the audience will like it?
Audience can feel/experience what the main character Bedour experience from her ponit on view. Also, audience will see how Bedour views her simulated world in cartoon form with some action scenes. The film would never make the audience to get board but exciting and emotionally involved with the main character, Bedour. Moreover, ‘Façade’ has the strong theme of ‘facing the reality’ and it shows the viewer the different forms of world which Bedour sees, allowing viewers to experience and feel as Bedour does between her simulated game world and reality.
